The Graduate Thanks You................

Today's cards are thank you cards. I had originally planned on having all the thank you cards done prior to graduation day and that "plan" has gone out the window. So this morning I got up and set to work on a few desigsn. If you recall we are the pirates and my announcements had this similar image on it so I thought I would use the left over images to make some of the thank you cards that my son will use. I wanted them to be simple so I can get through them quickly. This first card I used my new TH embossing folder (crackles) to give the card a little dimension. I love it- what do you think? The next card is simple, just the image on basic cream paper. Both are very simple cards and I think will work well.

This final card is the crackled embossed and then I used a couple red rhinestones to embellish it, thought it was elegant. I can't wait to get to put the other TH embossing folders to use soon.

I hope you are all having a wondferful Memorial Day weekend!

Pirate Thanks

Good day! Ahoy......... should I say? I got these magnolia stamps and had yet to use them........... is that so sad? Since we are the pirates (at school) I thought I would make some thank you cards for my son to send out. All my cardstock is SU, all plain without any DSP. The card itself is 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 so it allowed me a little extra room to work with. I used my new little border punch that I got today and put some little rhinestones on the little criss cross. I love this new one, it is so fun and elegant.
I colored this with copics which I have not used in a long time either- just have not had time. And I guess that really is about it. Have a great day!

Stampin Sisters In Christ: nesties used to give distressed shape and then distressed with brown ink- as is the round circle.

Hello everyone! It is Tuesday......... welcome back! Glad you are stopping in again. Today's card is another graduation card that I made using the last (week 4) of the Verve Challenge over on SCS. Are you all caught up with your graduation cards? I keep thinking I need more and I am loving the sentiments available to make them. I guess I better figure out which one I will give to my son!
I hope you all have a wonderful week and have fun stamping!

Elegance

Happy Monday all! Did that weekend go by fast or what? I could not believe it was time to get up and go to work again! YIKES! So today's card is a sentiment card (ODBD Challenge), one that focuses on sentiment.
The bottom of the card I used black cardstock and embossed with the fleur embossing folder. Then I basically used my versamark to heat emboss it. I love this look. Then added a little red with the sentiment and done. Simple and elegant- don't you think?

I hope you all have a fabulous day!

Hibiscus Graduation

Glad you are stopping in today. I am so excited to get this new set of stamps! This is a Verve sketch as well as the colors, blues and whites. I love how soft the card ended up being even though I used the diamond plate embossing folder which I typically only use for my masculine cards. And yet this one is very simple and easy to replicate. So that is it for today- take care and stop back tomorrow.

Whatcha Workin' On?

Here we are at another Wednesday and I thought I would post what I have been working on. So if you look at my workspace I will share a few little tidbits about it. You will see my corner punch: this is out because my son brought home his yearbook and needed me to make some modifications to it so that he could put his friends photos in. I guess when you buy them (and they are not cheap!) you have to purchase pages that have little photo holders in them and I apparently didn't know that- I mean, come on, who would have thought? So I actually added pages to his book and made little tabs for him to be able to add photos. Then in the middle are my brand new Verve stamps and I have really been working with that one there- I love this set! Ok, then my striped ribbon- I made a card the other day using this, can't recall which one but maybe I will post it soon.

Ok, I think that is about it for today. It is a bit messy and to tell you the truth I have actually worked in that area for a couple of days now because I was a little lazy to remove it and clean it up. LOL! I hope you will join us on WOYWD Wednesday- see what the other ladies are doing over at Julie's blog.

Talk to ya later! Heidi

Destination

Welcome back again- I hope that your week is turning out to be a good one. I am posting to my blog during the weekend because I have a big week ahead of me. So I figured I would get a head start on the week. This sketch is yet another Verve sketch for the month of March. I was so glad to see the colors that I could use because I was able to pull out my October Afternoon paper pack again- and I just LOVE this paper. I also implemented a little "patchwork" detail into the sketch as well. What do you think?

Well I am off to finish out my day- have a good one and see you back tomorrow!

Just a Note!

Ok, here we go- heading into Monday!
Yep- that is October Afternoon again! I had to use it up, I can't believe how many cards I can make with those darned 8x8 sheets! :) So this one I also used one of the MS border punches to make this simple simple card. Over at KLS they are looking for cards made with animals- is this little hedgehog the cutest?

A Matter of Moments

Hello everyone! I know, been gone a bit again. Just trying to catch up on things before I start back to work so limited crafting. This is a card I made with the new elements set that I got from SU (now out in new mini) I just love this set- very vintage. The butterflies I punched out of stamped image that I had colored.
This card I went with a soft pink. I just knew I had to start there and I love the look. I used garden green which is a little darker than I had planned but thrilled! What do you think? All I did to color them is use a sponge and inkpad- this card took no time to make.

Thanks for stopping in and see you tomorrow!

RAD Grad

Welcome back to my blog this Wednesday. I hope your week is going well. Ours is looking up. Have to take a little trip to the surgeons office to get the details of post operative follow up. We are hoping that we will know when both of us will be returning to work. So on to my card, this is one that I made using the pollycraft sketch with a little modification. Now you can't tell from the picture but the DSP is embossed in some areas (swirls) and so I took the image and heat embossed the skull and then took glittery stickles to follow the swirls then added some black pearls. I love how it turned out. I got this stamp from Tim Holtz, well actually Stampers Anonymous gave them to us- and it is a good fit because we are the pirates so I can use it for graduation cards.

Success

Happy Tuesday!
Things are looking better here at our house. Hubby is up and moving around, pain is controlled and sleeping fairly well. I also officially got a job and am waiting for the start date, which I am actually hoping will be Monday next. I am ready to go back (I think) as it has been almost 3 months.
Today's card is another graduation card. I am trying to get a bunch of these done so I am not waiting until the last moment. Yeah, why not Heidi- lets just wait till the last moment. LOL! The DSP is from a DCWV Graduation Paper pack from 2008. My sentiments are from Verve and the sketch is for the Monday Mojo.

Have a great day!

Silver Lining..................

Hello everyone! You have one of those weeks were you go, What just happened? That has been our week. My husband ended up having to go in for surgery on Thursday unexpectedly. A 30 minute procedure took 3hrs and a 24hr stay turned into 3 days. Then we lost power .......... but I am glad to say that my husband is now home and our power is back on!
NOW- I wouldn't want anyone to think that it was all bad- there was a silver lining called Tim Holtz!
This is my friend Denise and I with Tim. Denise, I never got the signed release but at least all your friends can now see you with Tim. :) Okay, okay, I know you all didn't come to see us (well maybe Tim, but not me and Denise) so here are some pictures of the wonderful things that we created in our class with Tim.
So the first thing we made was the little flower pin that Denise and I are wearing. I realized now that it is not a great picture of them so I will have to take a good photo later. But it was all made with material, some grunge paper and a vintage button.

This is a necklace using a book plate, some of his ideology line and the heart is one that Tim told us how to mold/make. Now I don't see me doing it but who knows. We used the paint daubers to give the book plate color. The chain was put together by Mario (poor guy had to do lots of those!). It is very vintage- just love it.

And then my most favorite creation.... a vintage charm bracelet. We used the tag fragments and used TH paper to put behind them. All the charms and alphabets are from ideology. Isn't it wonderful? I love wearing it because it also tinkles and clinks.

So I apologize for being gone so long- but this long post should suffice to make up and the items are fabulous if I don't say so myself (but all credit to Tim). Hope you enjoy.

Alter What?

So I decided to make another altered album, this one is for my nephew for his graduation. I know, I know,..... another album for a boy. Hey, what can I say, we have all alot of boys graduating over the next few years. My SIL didn't have photos organized and so I told her that I would do it-make him something that he could keep if she got me some pictures. So the front I used versamark and embossing powder over the entire thing, after I distressed it, then heat embossed it and now it is sealed/shiny. I love the look!

This is some of the inside of the book, I once again covered pages with DSP (using spray adhesive) and then distressed them a little. I tried to incorporate pictures from him as a todler to him as a senior. There are pages that fold out and open into other pictures.

This is another picture of the inside of the book, all together there are about 12 pages, the last page being his baby picture and a spot for his graduation picture. I hope he enjoys it.

Well that is it for today- stop on by tomorrow!

Its Fun to be a kid again!

You remember shrinky dinks, right? Well I forgot that I had all this shrinky dink paper and thought I would make some embellishments/charms with them. So I stamped on the white shrinky dink paper with stazon. I then colored Tilda (pirates) with my copic markers. This paper (Darcies) allows me to shrink it with my heat gun which also seals the color. I just love her! So I put this little charm on this tag and I am not sure but I think it will go on a thank you card.
If you are up to making some charms you should join us on the Pixie Cottage Challenge. Have a great Thursday- I only have 2 more sleeps until I get to see Tim Holtz (are you jealous?)

Friends and Flowers

Hello! Don't you love it when you can make a few cards in a night or in a couple nights and use the same paper, using up your scraps. That is my goal this week- to use up some of these papers. For my card yesterday I used 4 pieces of the BG paperstack and so I decided to stick with those. This is card #2- made it for a friend who has been very supportive of me over the last few months. And now that I have a new job (Oh yeah- I am gainfully employed!) she was even more excited than I was I think! So this is for her.
Have a Blessed Day!

Mojo and More

Another fabulous Mojo Monday Sketch from Julee. It was a perfect sketch to utilize some stitching (faux in my case today) and to pull out my June bug BG paper pack. I was in need of a few Birthday cards for the month of May- it seems like 1/2 my family and 1/2 of my friends have May birthdays! So this one is for a friends, can't say who in case her or some of the other gals check here. But I do think that she will find it funny!

So to make it even more fun I decided to decorate the inside and then put a funny note inside. I hope she finds it to be entertaining. She is older than me so I can make fun! LOL!

So have a great day!

Loved Ones

Hello everyone! Today's card is one that I made to put in my stash of sympathy cards. I am just loving these patched/blocked cards and so I decided to add a little diagonal sentiment to it. The paper is October Afternoon Thrift Shop again- just loving this paper pack! The sentiment is from Little Paper Shop.
Short and Sweet! Have a great week!
This card I did for the Penny PaperCraft Challenge: it is anything goes so I wanted to use my OWN personal sketch in hopes of giving someone inspiration.

MOJO Mix

Happy Sunday!
Today's card is from last weeks MOJO Monday sketch that Julee had for us...... it is another winner I think. I just love all her sketches, she just makes it all come together doesn't it? LOOK, look.......... this paper is October Afternoon Thrift Shop. I found these papers about 3 weeks ago and just fell in love with them. They have several lines that are wonderful and vintage feel and well, I am into vintage right now. Are those little flowers just the sweetest little things and look at the little clear flower button, it is from Webster's Pages. I still feel like I need something to add to this card and I am not sure what it is but for now it will stay.
This card also was made for these challenges:
Simon Says: Buttons, Bows and Bling
Have a wonderful day!
